VERGENNES – Jane M. Chamness, 94, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025, at her home in Vergennes, Illinois.

Jane was born August 4, 1931, in Carbondale, IL to Irvin and Ruth (McKinney) Wright. She married Dewey Chamness on August 11, 1950, in Vergennes, IL. He preceded her in death on April 9, 2017. Jane was a homemaker and a member of Elkville Christian Church, Elkville, IL.

Jane is survived by her sons: Gary Chamness of Vergennes, IL, Wayne (Diane) Chamness of Vergennes, IL; her grandchildren: Gordon Chamness, Rachael (Jerry) Coleman, Maria (Joey) Hazel, Clint Chamness, Colby Chamness, Cayla (Joe) Reiman; her 16 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren, her sisters-in-law: Bernell Wright of Murphysboro, IL, and Joyce Wright of Vergennes, IL.

Jane was also preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters-in-law.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at 10:00 am, at Murdale Garden of Memory, Murphysboro, IL, with Rev. Gary Pruitt officiating.
