STEELEVILLE – William "Bill" H. Winkelman, 75, of Steeleville, passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at Randolph County Care Center, Sparta, IL.

Bill was born April 19, 1946 in Murphysboro, IL, to Gustau and Laura Perry Winkelman.  He married Bernice Doyle Reitz on October 10, 1969 in Missouri.  She preceded him in death on June 22, 2013.  Bill was retired from Peabody Coal, Baldwin, IL.  He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Willisville, UMW of A Local 1820, Alma Lodge #479 AF&AM, Steeleville, Scottish Rite – Valley of Southern Illinois, Belleville, Ainad Shrine Temple of East St. Louis, OES Chapter 738, Steeleville, Lions Club, Steeleville, and Odd Fellows Lodge, Percy.  Bill was also active in Keystone Cops, always wearing a prison uniform and passing candy out to the children.

Bill is survived by children; Dan (Joyce) Reitz of Steeleville, Rich Reitz (Kelly) of Steeleville, Glenda Reitz of Percy, Darryl (Phyllis) Winkelman of Steeleville, Cheryl Haberberger of Chester, Son-in-law, Gary Farley of Kansas City, KS, eleven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and one great great grandson.

Bill is also preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Diana Farley, and son-in-law, Gary Hunt.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, Monday, May 24, 2021, at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville.  Burial to follow at Paradise Cemetery, Steeleville.  Friends may call 5–8 pm, Sunday, May 23, 2021, and 8-10:30 am, Monday, May 24, 2021.  Memorials may be given to Shriner's Hospital or Steeleville Lion's Club and can be mailed to Wilson Funeral Home, P.O.
