SPARTA – William James Schorr, 88, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at St. Mary's Hospital in Clayton, MO.

William was born on October 20, 1934, in East St. Louis, IL, the son of Rudolph and Nell (Foster) Schorr. He married Don Nita McConachie on May 14, 1960, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Sparta, IL. William served 4 years in the U.S. Navy. He was employed by AT&T for 31 years as an Engineering Methods Specialist. William was past Master of Masonic Hope Lodge #162, past president of Sparta Lion's Club, past president of the National USS Ashland LSD-1 Reunion Association and was a member of various other organizations.

William is survived by his wife, Don Nita Schorr of Sparta, IL, his daughters: Carol (Michael) Mayer of Sparta, IL, Beverly (Thomas) Clark of Caseyville, IL, daughter-in-law: Stacey Schorr, his grandchildren: Jacob Mayer, Linley Mayer, Mikala Mayer, Erika Garcia, Rachele Schorr; his great grandchildren: Nora Garcia, Isabel Garcia, Felix Mayer; nephew, Edward (Skip) Anderson and other nieces and nephews.

William was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Nell Schorr, sisters: Elizabeth Burns, Jean Anderson; an infant daughter, Joyce Anne Schorr, a son, Andrew Alan Schorr, and an infant granddaughter, Morgan Danielle Schorr

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Sparta, IL with Rev. Bonnie Wilkins officiating. Burial to follow at Union Cemetery, Sparta, IL. Masonic service will be held on Saturday, October 14 at 9:30 am at Westminster Presbyterian Church.
