IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William "Sweet"
Griffiths, Jr
September 15, 1964 – May 14, 2025
WILLISVILLE – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William "Bill" Griffiths Jr., affectionately known as "Sweet", 60, on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at his home in Willisville, Illinois.
Bill was an iron worker, hunter, and mentor; for friends and family, he was always available with a listening ear and a strong shoulder. He was never too busy for someone in need. However, his true passion lay in fishing, where he found joy and peace. He was a top winner at local fishing tournaments for many years. He attributed his wins to a special bracelet made for him by his daughter, Saylor. His favorite fishing spot was at Kinkaid Lake. He used to say, "You can't buy happiness, but you can go fishing, and that is pretty much the same thing." Bill and his children shared many happy memories fishing together, as did Bill and his nephews. The only thing that exceeded Bill's love for fishing was his love for his children, Saylor and Jesse.
Bill was born on September 15, 1964, in Hammond, IN, and was the son of William Sr. and Donna (Chaney) Griffiths.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Saylor Griffiths of Willisville, IL; his son, Jesse (Savannah) Griffiths of Sesser, IL; his grandchildren, Stormy and William Robert, and his siblings: Pamela (Fred) Brown of Las Vegas, NV, Marsha Griffiths of Willisville, IL, Tina Griffiths of Carterville, IL, Terri Griffiths of Ava, IL and Ashley Johnson of Hudson, FL; his nephews Dustin Lipe (Beaumont, TX) Daniel Lipe, (Huntsville, AL) Dylan Lipe (Pensacola, FL) and Cole Middendorf (Lucedale, MS), and nieces Griffyn Brown (Las Vegas, NV), Tara Watson (Cache, OK) and Peyton Harris (Carterville, IL).
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William Sr. and Donna Griffiths, and his sisters, Shelley Griffiths and Crystal Griffiths.
As per Bill's wishes, there will be no public services, and he will be cremated. Instead, we invite you to remember him as he was in life - a man of love, kindness, and adventure. Memorials can be made to the Kidney Cancer Association, and donations can be mailed to Wilson's Funeral Home Memorials, P.O. Box 277, Ava, IL 62907.
