SPARTA - William Dunhouse, 86, of LaMesa, California, formerly of Sparta, Illinois, passed away at 9:00 pm, Saturday, December 27, 2015 at Mt. Helix in LaMesa, CA. William was born in Pinckneyville, Illinois on September 21, 1928, the son of Shirley John and Edna Mae Cheatham Dunhouse. He married Dorothy Roberts on July 23, 1957 in Boulder, Colorado. He was a French Professor at San Diego State University and was a Veteran of the Army Air Force during WWII and the Korean War. William is survived by his wife, Dorothy Dunhouse of LaMesa, CA; his brother, Robert F. Dunhouse of Florence, KY; one nephew, Robert F. Dunhouse, Jr. of Tracy, CA; one great nephew, Robert F. Dunhouse, III of Tracy, CA; one niece, Lisa Jane Dunhouse of Cincinnati, OH; and a cousin, Frank W. Cheatham of Ava, IL. William was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava with Rev. Andrew B. Cheatham officiating. Burial will follow in Ava Evergreen Cemetery, Ava, Illinois. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, where friends may call from 10:00 am until 11:00 am.
