Obituary

TILDEN – William D. "Bill" Beckley, 87, of Tilden passed away at 6:20 PM, Thursday, February 13, 2018, at the St. Elizabeth's Hospital in O'Fallon, Illinois.

William was born on July, 15, 1930, at Sparta, the son of Harold and Elizabeth (McLean) Beckley. He was in the U.S. Army Reserve, and he married Lois Owens, on June 16, 1950, by his grandfather Rev. Frank McLean, in Tilden and they shared 67 years of marriage. Mr. Beckley owned and operated the Hamilton Motor in Tilden, he worked as a commercial truck driver, World Color Press, in Sparta and had worked at the Tilden Elevator. He was a member of the Tilden United Methodist Church, and a former member of the Sparta School Board District 140, for 8 years.

Bill is survived by his wife, Lois Beckley, of Tilden, children; Lyndon (Sandy) Beckley, of Swansea, Illinois, Teresa ( Marlin) Wilson, of Sparta, Becky (Dave) Elliott, of Mascoutah, Illinois, grandchildren; Maria (Brett) Gehrig, Paul (Kendra) Beckley, James Wilson, Nicole Elliott, and fiancé Mike, Samantha (Darren) Rogers, and his great grandchildren; Jake Haberman, Paityn and Paige Gehrig, Destiny and Guage Beckley, Braden Lloyd, Emma and Ethan Elliott, Nellie and Dante Luna. He is also survived by 2 brothers; Robert (Wilma) Beckley, of Lydell, Texas, James Beckley, of Tilden, 1 sister; Wanda Campbell, of Jacksonville, Illinois, 1 sister-in-law; Helen Beckley, and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Beckley was preceded in death by his parents; Harold and Elizabeth, and 1 brother; Richard Beckley.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, February 17, 2018, at the Tilden United Methodist Church, with Rev. Kimberly Allen officiating and burial will follow at the Tilden Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday morning where friends may call from 11 AM to 1 PM, at the church. Memorials may be made to the Tilden Scholarship Fund, or the Tilden Library. Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville has been entrusted with the arrangements.
