VERGENNES - William W. Alstat, 55, of Vergennes, passed away on Friday, August 19, 2016 in Perryville, MO.
William was born on January 8, 1961 in Murphysboro, IL the son Wayne and Barbra (Shields) Alstat. Bill graduated Elverado High School the class of 1979. He married Kathy A. Garver at the First Baptist Church in Ava on April 11, 1987. Bill was a member of the Lutheran Faith. He was a former township supervisor or the Ora Township, a former Jackson County Board for 25 years. He was currently a Trustee of the John A. Logan College, member of the Jackson County Farm Bureau, and member of sons of the American Legion Paul Stout Post #127 of Murphysboro. Bill was an avid hunter and fisherman going whenever he got the chance to. He also worked with his family's farm for most all of his life in addition to his other jobs. Bill also worked for Illinois State Treasure Judy Baar-Topinka for 7 years, and he really enjoyed his time working with Judy. He also loved his family time and family gatherings, especially the annual apple butter making day and the Sunday dinner's he had at his parents' house. Bill was a person that "never meet a stranger."
William is survived by his wife Kathy of Vergennes, daughter; Danielle Alstat of Ava, and granddaughter; Breanna. He is also survived by his parents; Wayne and Barbra Alstat of Vergennes, sisters; Yvonne Murray of Cobden, and Laurie Rendleman of Vergennes, and brother; Alan Alstat of Vergennes.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava with the Rev. Bill Stoklosa officiating, burial will follow at Birkner Cemetery, rural Ava. Visitation will be Monday evening at the funeral home where friends may call from 5-8 PM and then on Tuesday from 7:30 until the hour of service.
