CHESTER – Willa Sue Dickerson, 79, of Chester, Illinois, passed away on December 20, 2023, at home, after fighting a long, hard battle with cancer.
Willa Sue was born on June 11, 1944, in Green Forest, Arkansas, the daughter of Dyra and Lula Jane Clevenger Jones. She married Omen Dickerson on February 15, 1974.
Willa is survived by her husband, Omen Dickerson; children, Ronda (Christopher) Gaertner, Tamra Venable, Kristina (Steven) Conwell, Debbie (Bill) Parrish, and Eva Schorfheide; grandchildren, Austen (Krista) Barnhart, Jacob (Brittany) Gaertner, Haley Gaertner, Addison (Kathryn) Wachtel, JT Conwell, Zoe Conwell, Roman Conwell, Michael Paul (Elysha) Baker, Nichole Lloyd Groff, Crystal (Billy) Lloyd Hiller, and William Lloyd; and numerous great grandchildren.
Willa was preceded in death by her Parents; stepfather, Albert Hilton; son, Woodrow; sisters, Bonnita (Charlie) Riggs, Betty (Robert) Bell, Phyllis (Huebert) Aaron, and Geneva (Pete) Sophocles; and brother, Lem.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 22, 2023, at 11:00 am, at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, with Rev. David Hilton officiating. Graveside service will be held at 1:30 pm, Friday, at St. John Cemetery in Valmeyer, Illinois. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, on Friday from 10 am until 11 am. Memorials may be given to Maple Creek Hospice.
Sue lived a full life focusing on faith, family and friends. She loved the Lord with all her heart and her life reflected that. Thank you to the numerous healthcare providers, caregivers, and Hospice "Angels".
