STEELEVILLE – Wendell R. Davis, 64, of Steeleville passed away at 2:53 AM, Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at the Sparta Community Hospital in Sparta.
Wendell was born on November 20, 1952 in Murphysboro, the son of Joyce Cripps, he married Loretta M. Wall on June 21, 1975 at Campbell Hill, and they shared 41 years of marriage. Wendell was retired electrician at Zeigler Coal Company. He was of the Baptist faith, and a member of the Steeleville Lions Club, Friday Night Social Club, and the U.M.W of A. Local 2161.
He is survived by his wife; Loretta of Steeleville, children; Tanya (Jessie Sheridan) Davis, of Steeleville, Tonya (Efrain) Murillo, of Percy, 3 grandchildren; Austin Davis, of Percy, Sierra Murillo, of Percy, and Haylie Davis, of Steeleville. Wendell is also survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Wendell was preceded in death by his mother, and grandmother; Iva Conder.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Sunday, December 11, 2016 at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville with Pastor Jeffery D. Downard officiating, burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Sparta. Visitation will be held Saturday evening at the funeral home where friends may call from 5 to 8 PM and then on Sunday from 7:30 AM to 2 PM. Memorials may be made in a Love Fund for the Family.
