VERGENNES, Walter F. Meeks, 70, of Vergennes, passed away at 2:36 P.M. Friday, January 07, 2011, at his home in Vergennes, IL. Walter was born July 03, 1940 in Portageville, New York the son of Lowell Stewart Meeks and Florence Rose (Hayes) Meeks. He is survived by his sons: Walter and Christina Meeks Jr. of Willisville, IL., Jimmy Lee and Nancy Meeks of Coello, IL.; daughters: Peg Rump of Dixon, IL and Penny Burnell of Dixon, IL; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren; sisters: Betty Gulf of Harmon, IL, Jeanie Meeks of Harmon, IL; step mother: Alberta Meeks of Dixon, IL. Walter is preceded in death by his parents, and one infant brother. Mr. Meeks served in the U.S. Army, during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired Truck Driver. A celebration of Walter's life will be on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 3:00 pm at the Campbell Hill Community Center in Campbell Hill, IL. The preferred form of remembrance is to the family.
