Obituary

STEELEVILLE – Walter W. Joost, 87, of Steeleville passed away at 12:15 AM, Sunday, April 22, 2018, at the Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.

Walter was born on March 1, 1931, in Steeleville, the son of J.H. and Mathilda (Lakeman) Joost. He was in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Walter married Dorothy Ruebke on January 23, 1971, at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Bremen, and they shared 47 years of marriage. Mr. Joost was a retired farmer and a lifelong member of Peace Lutheran Church, the B.B.K. American Legion Post #480, Steeleville, and the Randolph County Farm Bureau.

He is survived by his wife; Dorothy Joost, of Steeleville, children; Katherine (Randy) Troue, of Percy, Connie (Kevin) Muench, of Red Bud, Christine (Eric) Froemling, of Ava, grandchildren; Jennifer (Nick) Armstrong, Jessica (Adam) Eggemeyer, Kimberly (Jeremy) Schlueter, Adam Muench and (Loren Beaver), Elizabeth Froemling, Andrew Froemling, great granddaughters; Emma Sue Schlueter, and twin girls; Arabella Lynn and Adeline Marie Armstrong. Walter is also survived by one brother; Wilbert Joost, of Steeleville.

Mr. Joost was preceded in death by his parents, 1 daughter; Sandra, 3 sisters and 5 brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, April 26, 2018, at the Peace Lutheran Church in Steeleville, with Rev. S. Blake Duncan and Julie Posth officiating, burial will follow at Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Steeleville. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville where friends may call from 5 to 8 PM, and then on Thursday from 9 to 11 AM at the church. Memorials may be made to Peace Lutheran Church.
