PERCY - Walter O. Hagood, 88, of Percy, passed away at 7:24 pm, Monday, November 12, 2012 at the Community Hospital in Pinckneyville, IL. Walter was born in Limestone County, Alabama on January 12, 1924, the son of Henry W. and Eula E. Lovell Hagood. He married Amaryaless A. Jordan on January 24, 1953 in Iuka, Mississippi, she preceded him in death on August 10, 1984. He then married Frances D. Kelly in 1990 in Gatlinburg, TN, she preceded him in death on September 7, 2010. Walter was a retired service tech from Sears, and EMT, and volunteer fireman. He was a member of the Tanner United Methodist Church in Tanner, Alabama. Walter is survived by one daughter, Patricia L. (Roger) Smith of Percy, IL; five grandchildren, Arminda L. (Patrick) Reed, Caleb K. (Nicole) Smith, Heather N. Hagood, Nathanael R. Smith, and Haleih M. Hagood, two great grandchildren, Barrett Walter Smith and Eleanor Lynn Reed; and one daughter-in-law, Sharon C. Hagood of Tamaroa, IL. Walter was also preceded in death by his parents; one son, Steven; three brothers; and two sisters. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, November 19, 2012 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home in Pekin, Illinois. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, where friends may call from 6 to 8 pm Thursday and on Monday from 10 am to 11 am at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home in Pekin. Memorials may be given Siteman Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.
