PERCY – Viola Marie Koch, 91, of Percy, passed away at 4:40 am, Monday, September 11, 2017, at the Randolph County Care Center, Sparta, Illinois.
Viola was born in Campbell Hill, on September 10, 1926, the daughter of Elmer and Alma Oetking Hornbostel. She married Robert W. Koch on October 17, 1959 in Steeleville. He preceded her in death on October 17, 1980. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Steeleville and the B.B.K. American Legion Post #480 Auxiliary, Steeleville. She was a book binder at World Color Press.
Viola is survived by one son, Allan (Cathy) Ohlau of Coulterville, IL and one daughter, Judith (Ray) Wedemeyer of Steeleville; 5 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; two sisters, Lavera Bierman of Sparta and Ruby Ernsting of Percy; one sister-in-law, Shirley Hornbostel of Percy; two brothers-in-law, Willard Koch of O'Fallon, MO and Homer Koch of St. Peter's, MO; and one sister-in-law, Lucille Thies of Florissant, MO.
Viola was also preceded in death by her Parents; one son; and one brother.
Funeral service was held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Peace Lutheran Church in Steeleville with Rev. S. Blake Duncan officiating. Burial will follow at Peace Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, where friends may call from 5 pm until 8 pm Friday and on Saturday from 7:30 am until 9 am then from 10 am until 11 am at the church. Memorials may be given to Autism Society of Southern Illinois or Peace Lutheran Cemetery Fund.
