PERCY – Viola E. Bayer, 97, of Percy, passed away at 5:47 pm, Sunday, March 31, 2019 at Randolph County Care Center, Sparta.

Viola was born in Chester, Illinois, on May 19, 1921, the daughter of the late William and Fredericka Dunnerman Menke.  She married Wilburn E. Bayer on May 6, 1939 in Perryville, Missouri.  He preceded her in death on June 19, 1999.  She was a Homemaker.  Viola was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Percy.

Viola is survived by her children, Dennis (Jan) Bayer of New Athens, IL, Darlene (Johnny) Shiver of Jacksonville, NC, Willetta (Steven) McCulloh of Rundo Beach, CA and David Bayer of Evansville, IL; 9 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren; and sister, Kate Bond of Cape Girardeau, MO.

Viola was preceded in death by her Parents; and siblings, Lester Menke, Jane Yankey, Hope Yankey and John Lee Yankey.

Funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm, Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, with Rev. James Tinzmann officiating.  Burial will follow at Percy Village Cemetery.  Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, where friends may call from 1 pm until 3 pm Wednesday.  Memorials may be given to Wesley United Methodist Church, Percy or Vitas Hospice.
