SPARTA- Dr. Victoria Willingham-Schoeneberg, O.D., 64, of Edwardsville, formerly of Sparta, passed away at 6:37 pm on Sunday, December 26, 2021 at Graham Hospital in Canton, IL.

She was born in Sparta, on October 29, 1957 to Vernon and Margaret Bergfeld Willingham.  She married Neil Schoeneberg on September 25, 1993, in Winkle, IL.

Vicky was a member of First United Methodist Church of Sparta, IL and a member of Sparta Rotary. She was a Paul Harris fellow and former President for 2 terms.  She was especially proud of her time spent in clinical training with emphasis on Primary Eye Care and Pathology at Fort Bragg Army Hospital in Fayetteville, NC, from September of 1983 to December of 1983, during Granada.  Victoria had her own private practice in Sparta from June 1984 until 2009.  She previously worked for Clarkson Eyecare in Fairview Heights, IL from January 2010-January 2014, J.A.K. Enterprises, Inc. in Peoria from September 2014-November 2018, Marion Eye Centers in Marion, IL from November 2018-October 2020, and was currently employed with Bard Optical in Canton, IL since October 2020.  Victoria held the following affiliations, Southern Illinois Society of Optometrist from 1984-Present, Sparta Rotary Club from 1988-Present, Rotary Club President from 1993-1994 and 2008-2009, Easter Seals Radiothon Chairman in 1998, Rotary District Volunteer Chairman from 2007-2009, First United Methodist Church from 1997-Present, YMCA Fitness Instructor from 1985-2000, YMCA Volunteer of the Year in 1996, The Center Fitness Instructor from 2000-2009, TLC (Therapy Learning Center) Board 2000-2005, Randolph County Human Society Board from 2000-2004, Chamber of Commerce from 1984-2009, Sparta Community Hospital Board from 2006-2009, President of Aequitis, LTC (Marketing and Print Publications) from 2006-2009, Adjunct Professor for Southern College of Optometry from 1995-2010 and Flag Sponsor/Instructor, Sparta Community High School, Home Festival Parade Co-Chair from 2000-2008.

Vicky is survived by her husband Neil Schoeneberg of Edwardsville; children, Avonlea Schoeneberg  and Mariah Schoeneberg, both of Edwardsville; Mother and Stepfather, Margaret & David Nicholson of Sparta; brothers, Eric (Tammie) Willingham, Caseyville, IL and Alan (Sharilyn) Willingham, Belleville, IL; Stepbrothers, David Alan Nicholson and Jeremy (Shannon) Nicholson; Uncles, Bill Willingham, Clarksville, TN and Arthur Bergfeld, Sparta; Nieces and Nephews, Megan Willingham, Evan Lee Willingham, Gussie Willingham, Sean Johnson, Branon Johnson, Addison Nicholson and Owen Nicholson.

She was preceded in death by her father, Vernon.

Funeral Services will be held at 4PM Sunday, January 2, 2022 at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville with the Rev. Terry Jackson officiating.  Visitation will be at the Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, on Sunday where friends may call from 2 to 4PM.
