JACOB - Vernon E. Wischmeyer, 87, of Jacob, passed away at 9:59 am, Friday, August 15, 2014 at his home in Jacob. Vernon was born in St. Louis, Missouri on May 15, 1927, the son of Arthur and Clara Hackmann Wischmeyer. He married Marjorie Willbrand on June 26, 1948 in St. Louis, MO. She preceded him in death on October 1, 2006. Vernon was a veteran, having served in the Coast Guard during WWII. He was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Jacob and the American Legion Post #127 in Murphysboro. He was a retired electrician at Sach's Electric in St. Louis, MO. Vernon is survived by one daughter, Cathy (Wayne) Twenhafel of Jacob; one son-in-law, Glenn (Mary Jo) Twenhafel of Gorham, IL; grandchildren, Mark (Deana) Twenhafel, Mike (Angela) Twenhafel, Christy (Jason) Gardner; great grandchildren, Dacoda Shaw Twenhafel, Conner Twenhafel, Blake Twenhafel, Brady Twenhafel and Tripp Gardner; brother-in-law, James (Mary) Storell; and two nieces and three nephews. Vernon was also preceded in death by his Parents; one daughter, Sharon Twenhafel on November 27, 1995; and a brother, Warren (Vivian) Wischmeyer. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at 2:00 pm, at the Christ Lutheran Church in Jacob with Rev. Mike Kettner officiating. Burial will follow in Christ Lutheran Cemetery, Gorham, Illinois. Visitation will be at Christ Lutheran Church on Sunday from Noon until 2 pm. Memorials may be given to Christ Lutheran Church.
