STEELEVILLE, Vernon Ruebke, 72, of Steeleville, passed away at 10:15 A.M. Wednesday, August 18, 2010, at Sparta Community Hospital in Sparta, IL. He was born June 11, 1938 in Steeleville, Illinois the son of Fritz Ruebke and Clara (Hartman) Ruebke. Vernon married Marion L. Bert on August 22, 1959 in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Chester, Illinois. He is survived by his wife Marion L. Ruebke of Steeleville, IL; children: Bruce and Kim Ruebke of Steeleville, IL, Judy Mayer of Pinckneyville, IL, Gloria Jahr o Columbia, IL; six grandchildren: Rebecca Ruebke, Nathaniel Ruebke, Natalie Ruebke, Katelyn Mayer, Brittney Jahr, and Casey Jahr; brother: Larenz and Alberta Ruebke of Percy, IL; sisters: Dorothy and Walter Joost of Steeleville, IL and Allene Kothe of Percy, IL; Many nieces and nephews. Mr. Ruebke is preceded in death by his parents, one son, David, two son-in-laws, Theodore Mayer and Craig Jahr, and one brother, Edward Ruebke. He was a retired Laborer from Chester Dairy after 37 years, a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Sparta, IL, K of C Council #6577 Sparta, IL, Randolph County Rod and Gun Club, Randolph County Farm Bureau, and he was also an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 21, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Sparta, IL. Father Benjamin Stern will be officiating. Burial will be at Paradise Cemetery in Steeleville, IL Visitation will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville on Friday from 5-8 PM and then on Saturday from 7:30 to 9am. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association, TIP Hospice or for Masses.
