Obituary
TILDEN – Verna J. Rieckenberg, 74, of Tilden, passed away at 1:15 AM, Monday, September 17, 2018, at the St. Elizabeth's Hospital in O'Fallon, Illinois.
Verna was born on March 10, 1944, in Red Bud, the daughter of William and Clara (Alexander) Terry. She worked as the City Clerk at the City of Tilden from 1997-2017 and worked at the Senior Manor in Sparta for several years. Verna was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tilden.
Verna is survived by her son; Eric J. (Deanne) Rieckenberg, of Steeleville, daughter; Jeanie (Isaac) Geppert, of Oakdale, 3 grandchildren; Emma, and Sophie Rieckenberg, and Clara Geppert. She is also survived by a special friend; John Rieckenberg, of Steeleville.
Mrs. Rieckenberg was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, September 22, 2018, at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville with Rev. Dennis Hamilton officiating, burial will follow at the Peace Lutheran Cemetery in Steeleville. Visitation will be held on Friday evening at the funeral home where friends may call from 6 to 8 PM, and then on Saturday morning from 7:30 to 10 AM. Memorials may be made to Randolph County Relay for Life or the Sparta Community Hospital Auxiliary .
