MURPHYSBORO, Verna Lipps, 88, of Murphysboro, passed away at 11:20 A.M. Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at her home in Murphysboro, IL. She was born January 18, 1923 in Jones Ridge, Illinois the daughter of Herman August Leinicke and Clemmie (McBride) Leinicke. Verna married John Eugene Buffington on April 24, 1945. He passed away on June 22, 1978. The she later married Walter Lipps April 30, 1983 on in Newport Beach, CA. She is survived by her husband Walt Lipps of Murphysboro, IL; three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Verna is preceded in death by her parents, one son: John F. Buffington; four sisters and three brothers. Verna was a retired supervisor for Verizon. Mrs. Lipps wishes was for cremation so there will be no services. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
