MURPHYSBORO - Verna M. Colombo, 83, of Murphysboro, passed away at 7:53 am, Friday, April 5, 2013 at the St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro. Verna was born in Gary, Indiana, on May 11, 1929, the daughter of Harry Everett and Bernice W. Weatherford Cochran. She married Joseph Colombo on July 21, 1969 in Granite City, IL. He preceded her in death on October 14, 2010. Verna was a retired seamstress. Verna is survived by one son, Harry (Cindy) Stevens of Grain Valley, MO; one daughter, Linda Reynolds of Murphysboro; three grandchildren, Lura (Brandon Frederick) Oakley, Lance (Lisa) Reynolds and Callie (Kari Stevens) Zevecki; five great grandchildren, Megan (Chad Cagle) Holmes, Shane Reynolds, Tanner Reynolds, Alex Huey and Branaya Frederick; one brother, Clarence (Mary Louise) Cochran of Carbondale, IL; and two sisters, Rose Mary (Robert) Saupe of Jacob, IL and Kathryn Sudano of Murphysboro. Verna was also preceded in death by her Parents; one brother, Bob Cochran; and one sister, Wanda Mamaugh. Due to Verna's wishes cremation will take place with any services. Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava is in charge of arrangements.
