CAMPBELL HILL – Verdelle Eggemeyer Fisher Thies, of Campbell Hill, passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at the age of 92.  Verdelle was a resident of Three Springs Lodge in Chester, Illinois.

Verdelle was born in Walsh, Illinois, on July 2, 1929, to Liewald and Lydia Eggemeyer.  Verdelle was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, Walsh.  Verdelle graduated from Sparta High School in 1947.  Verdelle married Everett H. Fisher at Zion Lutheran Church, on August 11, 1951.  They lived in Lawrenceville, Illinois.  Verdelle and Everett had 3 children, Larry, Patricia and Lonnie.  Everett passed away unexpectedly on May 3, 1959.  Verdelle and Lester Thies met and then married on June 1, 1963, at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Campbell Hill, where they both were members.  Lester preceded Verdelle in death on November 12, 1986.    Verdelle and Lester had one son, Brent.  He preceded her in death on January 21, 2013.    Verdelle was also a member St. Luke's Women's Group and of the American Legion Post #1096 Auxiliary, Campbell Hill.   Verdelle worked at the shoe factory in Chester.

Verdelle was always ready to help where needed.  Verdelle liked playing cards, square dancing and sewing.  She saw a friend in everyone and loved life.

Verdelle is survived by children, Larry (Paula) Fisher of Campbell Hill, Patricia (Dan) Kenner of Herrin, Lonnie (Marla) Fisher of Campbell Hill, Retha Meyerhoff of Percy, and Douglas (Christine) Thies of Campbell Hill; son-in-law, George Randolph of Steeleville; and daughter-in-law, Elaine Knop of Steeleville.  Verdelle is also survived by, sister, Wanda Davis (Ray) Cook of Kansas City, MO, sister-in-law, Donna Eggemeyer of Steeleville, IL and Lillian Eggemeyer of Waterloo, IL; 16 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many many friends.

Verdelle was preceded in death by her Parents; both husbands; son, Brent Thies; two daughters, Pam Knop and Cathy Randolph; grandson, Jonathon Knop; sons-in-law, Willard Knop and Larry Meyerhoff; and brothers, Norman, Melbert and Merle Eggemeyer.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, July 31, 2021, at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Campbell Hill, with Minister Deb Rathert officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Luke Lutheran Cemetery, Campbell Hill.  Visitation will be at St. Luke Lutheran Church on Saturday from 10 am until 11 am.  The preferred form of remembrance are memorials to St. Luke Lutheran Church, St. Luke Lutheran Cemetery, or Shriner's Hospital.  To sign the guestbook visit www.wilsonsfuneralhome.net .
