MURPHYSBORO - Vera M. Tucker, 80, of Murphysboro, passed away at 2:35 am, Friday, March 14, 2014 at the Memorial Hospital in Carbondale. Vera was born in Jackson County , Illinois on November 16, 1933, the daughter of Vallie and Frances A. Jones Childers. She married Charles Tucker in September of 1956 at the First Lutheran Church in Murphysboro, Illinois. Vera was a member of the Christ Community Church in Murphysboro and was retired from K-Mart. Vera enjoyed bowling and playing baseball. Vera is survived by her husband, Charles Tucker of Murphysboro; four daughters, Pam Hunziker of Murphysboro, Tina Crabtree of Florida, Star Tucker of Arizona, and Geri (Ben) Cripps of Anna, IL; two grandsons, Chad and Mitchel; one granddaughter, Chloe; one great granddaughter, Lauren Mae; and one sister, Geraldine Hannah of Fairview Heights, IL. Vera was preceded in death by her Parents; one granddaughter, Ashley Blagburn; one great grandson, Tyson; and one sister. Funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm, Monday, March 17, 2014 at the Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, with Rev. Frank Voorhees officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Murphysboro. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, where friends may call from Noon until 1:30 pm Monday. Memorials may be given to the Family. Vera was loved and will be sadly missed by all.
