STEELEVILLE, Velma Ackroyd, 93, of Lubbock,Texas, formerly of Steeleville, Illinois, passed away at 12:30 A.M. Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at Lubbock Health Care Center in Lubbock, Texas She was born April 4, 1915 in Percy, Illinois the daughter of Edmund Brueggemann and Dorothea (Wolters) Brueggemann. She married Walter L. Ackroyd on November 23, 1934 in Chester, Illinois. He passed away on August 6, 1989. Mrs. Ackroyd was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church of Steeleville, Illinois, she was a homemaker and retired from International Shoe and the World Color Press. She is survived by her daughter: Georiga (Connie) Bramlet of Lubbock, Texas; daughter-in-law: Carolyn Arkroyd of Belleville, Illinois; four grandchildren, seven great granddaughters, two great great grandchildren. Velma was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Wallace Ackroyd and two brothers Leroy and Delbert Brueggemann. Funeral services will be held Saturday,March 21, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville. Rev. Dr. Alan W. Janneke of St. Marks's Lutheran Church will be officiating. Burial will be at Paradise Cemetery in Steeleville, Illinois. Visitation will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville on Friday from 6-8 PM and then on Saturday from 7:30 am until the hour of service. Memorials may be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
