STEELEVILLE, Valley Vernell McCrary Sr., 80, of Steeleville, passed away at 12:20 P.M. Thursday, March 19, 2009, at his home in Steeleville, IL. He was born June 19, 1928 in Marissa, Illinois the son of Thomas McCrary and Thakla (Boyer) McCrary. Valley married Vivian Melville on August 15, 1948 in Willisville, Illinois. He retired from being a laborer at the coal mine and a truck driver, was a member of the U.M.W. of A. Local #1392 and the Steeleville Baptist Church, Steeleville, Illinois. Mr. McCrary is survived by his wife Vivian McCrary of Steeleville, Illinois; children: Rose Marie Bailey of Cobden, Illinois, Valley V. (Butch) McCrary of Sparta, IL, Shirley Marleen Robinson of Albany Oregon, Kevin L. McCrary of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Brenda Sue Ruebke of Percy, Illinois; 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; brother: Tom McCrary of Percy, Illinois; sister: Norma Vorderbrugge of Steeleville, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Ralph Schaeffer. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 23, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville. Rev. Greg Sutter will be officiating. Burial will be at Percy Village Cemetery in Percy, Illinois. Visitation will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville on Monday from 10:30 am until 1pm Memorials may be made to the family.
