WINE HILL – Todd Dean Ehlers, 48, of Wine Hill, Illinois, passed away at his home on Thursday, February 5, 2026.
Todd was born on October 30, 1977 in Chester, IL, the son of Darrel D. and Carol A. (Huseman) Ehlers of Campbell Hill. Todd was an educator at Menard Correctional Center, a police officer in the surrounding area, and a former Ag Teacher at several local high schools. He was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church, Post Oak, where he held several leadership positions.
His greatest pride and joy was his son, Bryce, who was not only his only child, but also his best friend and hunting buddy. The two shared countless hours together outdoors, making memories in the woods, telling stories and enjoying the simple moments that meant the most. Todd was a proud graduate of Trico High School and SIU. During his time at Trico, he was actively involved in FFA, encouraged by his teacher and Uncle Lawrence Huseman. He earned both the State and the prestigious National FFA Degrees. He remained active in the FFA Alumni. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on in the stories shared, the lessons he passed along, the junk he bought and the love he gave to all.
Todd is survived by his son, Bryce of Wine Hill; Father, Darrel Ehlers of Campbell Hill; sister, Amy (Josh) Brown of Campbell Hill; nephews, Conner and Carter Brown; Bryce’s mom, Mary (Sam) Oberle of Ste. Genevieve, MO; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Todd was preceded in death by is Mother, Carol; twin brother, Tyson; Uncles, Lawrence Huseman, Leonard Huseman, Jerry Ehlers and Gilbert Oetjen; aunts, Marla Cushman and Marsha Ehlers; and his grandparents.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 11:00 am at St. John’s Lutheran Church-Post Oak, Campbell Hill, IL with Rev. Michael Foppe and Minister Deb Rathert officiating. Burial will follow in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery-Post Oak, Campbell Hill. Visitation will be at Wilson’s Funeral Home, Ava, where friends may call on Wednesday, from 3:30 pm until 8 pm, and on Thursday from 7:30 am until 9 am and then from 10 am until 11 am at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to a scholarship fund set up for Bryce Ehlers or the Todd Ehlers Memorial Fund to be distributed to his favorite charities and organizations.
