Obituary

DUQUOIN - Thomas Dale Throop , 76, passed away at 10:29 a.m. Sunday, November 3, 2019, at his home in DuQuoin, IL surrounded by his wife and kids.

Tom was born on February 11, 1943, in Woodhall, IL, the son of Clarence and Vivian (Johnson) Throop.

He married his bride and love of his life Patricia Ann Patterson on September 30, 1961, in Percy IL.  Their happy ever after produced four beautiful children, Curtis Lee (Bridget) Throop of Steeleville, IL, Tina Ranee Crum of Freeman Spur, IL, Carol Jean (Shawn) Baldi of Freeman Spur, IL, Angel Ann (Mitch) Cooper of Danville, IN.  He is Grandpa to ten treasured grandbabies Brandy Nichole Tripp; Heath Thomas (Coleen), Kristin Nicole, Travis Harold Crum; Jessica Ranee, Ashlyn Suzanne Baldi; Jacob Ryan, Maddisen Lynna, Olivia Ruth, Ethan Thomas Cooper.  The joy of his retirement was his seven great-grandbabies Connor, Kenlee, Korbin, Skyler, Lillyuana, Abigail, Tinsley and two great-grandgirls due soon.

He was a loving husband of 58 years who shared his profession of over-the-road truck driving with his bride, Pat for over 36 years.  He was a friend to everyone he met and enjoyed sharing stories of his life and his family.  He loved spending time with his bride, his babies and all of his grandbabies.  He also loved  gardening, camping, fishing, being in the kitchen cooking for his family, sitting on the patio drinking coffee with his bride and watching his birds and squirrels.

He is survived by his bride, Patricia Ann Throop; his four beautiful children, his ten treasured grandbabies, 7 great-grandbabies, two sisters Irene Thies and Mary Stork, and one brother, Bill Johnson and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was proceeded in death by his parents Clarence and Vivian Throop, father-in-law Willard Patterson, brother and sister-in-law Eugene and Janet Throop, half-brother Ora (Dink) Throop, brothers-in-law Dean Patterson and Bill Royster.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday November 10, at Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville, with Pastor Doug Rice, officiating.  Burial will follow in the Cutler Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, November 9, and from 7:30 until time for the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 10 at Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville.  Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
