Obituary
SPARTA – Thomas D. Reimer, 74, of Sparta passed away at 11:30 PM, Friday, April 6, 2018 at the Randolph County Care Center, in Sparta.
Thomas was born on June 10, 1943, in Sparta the son of Albert and Margaret (Kukarola) Reimer. He was in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1964, and he married Shirley A. Glass on February 24, 1962, in Coulterville, and they shared 56 years of marriage. He was retired from Spartan Printing in Sparta. Tom was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Sparta, Knights of Columbus #6577, Sparta V.F.W. Post #2698, and the Sparta Eagles Aerie #3059.
Tom is survived by his wife; Shirley A. Reimer, of Sparta, children; Robert D. (Donna) Reimer, of Greenwood, Indiana, Kathleen (Gregory) Birchler, of Red Bud, 6 grandchildren; Kodi (Bethany Lane) Hicks, Kaci (Zachary) Hickman, Alex Birchler, Sarah Birchler, Miranda (Nathan) Stapleton, Kristin Reimer, 8 great grandchildren. He is also survived by 3 brothers; Ray (Leslee) Reimer, of New Mexico, Steve (Mary) Reimer, of Sparta, Mark (Lisa) Reimer, of Thorntown, Indiana, 2 sisters; Linda (Silas) Deaton, of Columbus, Indiana, and Debbie (Dennis) Wittenborn, of Sparta.
Mr. Reimer was preceded in death by his parents, and 1 sister; Theresa (Jerry) Spengel.
Memorial mass will be held at 10 AM, Thursday, April 12, 2018, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Sparta, with Father Vincent Mukasa officiating, burial will follow at Caledonia Cemetery, Sparta. Visitation will be held on Thursday morning at the church where friends may call from 8 AM until the hour of service with the rosary at 9 AM. The preferred form of remembrance is the Masses or Hospice of Southern Illinois or Relay for Life. Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville is entrusted with the arrangements.
