AVA – Thomas A. Nisbet, 79, of Ava, passed away at 4:45 PM, Tuesday, April 21, 2020 at his home.
Thomas was born on September 9, 1940, in Willisville the son of Keith A. and Virginia Grace (Dameron) Nisbet. He married Shirley A. Volkman, on November 27, 1965, at the St. Peter Lutheran Church, Campbell Hill and they shared 54 years of marriage. Tom was in the Army National Guard for 6 months and was active for 6 years during 1963-1969 in the Vietnam Era. Tom was a farmer and the owner and operator of Nisbet Farms, Ava, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Ava, Alma Lodge A.F. & A.M. Post #480 Steeleville for over 50 years, member of the Trico School District Board for 18 years. Tom enjoyed watching his grandson, Ty play hockey and baseball.
Tom is survived by his wife; Shirley Nisbet, of Ava, 2 daughters; Lisa (Matt) Badgley, of Lincolnshire, Illinois, Jennifer Smith, of St. Charles, Missouri, 2 grandchildren; Abbott Elizabeth Badgley, and Ty Nisbet Badgley. He is also survived by a sister; Barbara Beisner, of Ava, sister-in-law; Sue Volkman, of Ava, brother-in-law; Harry Oldham, of Ava, several nieces and nephews.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law; Jason Smith, and sister; Judy Oldham.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, private graveside services will be held, with burial at the Ava Evergreen Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Ava or the American Cancer Society. Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava is assisting the family with the arrangements.
