SPARTA – Thomas Reid Hodge, 83, of Sparta, died at 4:57 pm, Friday, April 24, 2026, at the Randolph County Care Center, Sparta, Illinois.

He was born in Sparta, on August 7, 1942, to Clarence Reid and Gladys (McNabney) Hodge. He married Roberta Sue (Blair) Hodge in Sparta on September 14, 1963. Tom was retired from Illinois Power Company of Sparta, where he was a Senior Engineering Representative for 42 years. He graduated from Sparta High School and attended 2 years college at SIU in Carbondale, IL. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus and Sparta FOE #3059. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, and horse races at Fairmont Park for as long as he was able to.

Tom is survived by his wife, Sue Hodge of Sparta; daughter, Rhea (Steve) Baxter of Imperial, MO; brother, Bob (Judy) Hodge of Clearwater, FL; nieces and nephews, Rob (Summer) Hodge of Frisco, TX, Melissa (Mark) Ostapowicz of Oldsmar, FL, and Christine (Kevin) Toben of St. Louis, MO; sisters-in-law, Elaine Leming of Sparta and Connie (Jim Rossiter) Blair of Sebastian, FL; brother-in-law, Paul Blair of Robinsonville, MS; and several great nieces and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, David Leming; uncle Donald “Doc” McNabney and aunt Florence Lysaght.

Memorial mass will be held at 11:00 am, on Monday, May 4, 2026, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Sparta, with Father Charles Anyaoku officiating. Burial will be at Caledonia Cemetery, Sparta. Visitation will be at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church on Monday, May 4, 2026, from 9 am until 11 am.
