Obituary

MURPHYSBORO, Thomas E. Hall, 91, of Murphysboro, passed away at 5:41 A.M. Sunday, May 10, 2009, at Rehab and Care Center in Murphysboro, IL. Thomas was born November 10, 1917 in Murphysboro, Illinois the son of Thomas Luther Hall and Mary Ethel (Cluster) Hall. He married Helen Amelia Kuchno on October 1, 1938 at St. Louis, MO. She preceded him in death on June 4, 1981. He then married Betty Kerr Hall in October of 1982 at Murphysboro, IL. She preceded him in death on October 23, 2008. Thomas was a veteran of the US Marine Corp having served during WWII as a Radio Operator. He was retired from Lustour Corp. and was also a retired farmer. He was a member of the St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Murphysboro; BPO Elks Lodge #572 in Murphysboro; Knights of Columbus #988 in Murphysboro; Paul Stout American Legion Post #127 in Murphysboro; V.F.W. Post #7190 in Murphsyboro; Moose Lodge #1591 in Murphysboro and he was a lifelong member of the Jackson County Farm Bureau. Tom enjoyed hard work, gardening, fishing, dancing, exercising, squirrel hunting and the stock market. He always planted a huge garden and shared it with his family, friends and the community. He enjoyed dancing every Saturday night with his wife and any other opportunity he would get to dance. Tom continued exercising after leaving the Marines and could still do one hundred sit ups eighty years of age. Our father was one of the most intelligent self-taught individuals and he made his family very proud. Alzheimers Disease took his mind and then his body. Thomas is survived by eight children, Susan (Burt) Campbell of Seabrook, TX, Sharon (Pat) Coniglio of Ava, Sandy Rhine of Mt. Vernon, IL, Pam (Gary) Korando of Ava, IL, Beverly Hall of Divide, CO, Helen Hall of Murphysboro, Thomas (Terri) Hall II of Murphysboro, Timothy (Sharon) Hall of Murphysboro; step children, Brenda (Dan) Bedinger, Linda (Wayne) Bundge, Robert (Diane) Hall, Richard (Suzanne) Hall, Bert Hall and Scott Hall; 31 grandchildren, John and Paul Naas; Sandy Bracharcken; Rachael Carroll; Patrick, Peter and Parker Coniglio; Joshua Rhine; Felicia Tennyson; Emily Sledge; Angie Imhoff; Rebecca Bunselmeyer; Melissa Goldschmidt; Jessica Fritsche; Chrissy Kraus; Matthew Korando; Ronnie, Charlie, Katie, Annie, and Jenny Hanson; Jill Martin; Julie Moreland; Michael Pelzer; Tommy and Britney Hall; Shannon and Alex Hall; Drake and Tristen Fisher; and Alicia Bock; 14 step grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 21 step great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild; three sisters, June Reichrath of Atlanta, GA, Gloria Stein of Murphysboro, Mary Heath of Waterloo, IL; one brother, Luther Bernard Hall of Crossville, TN. In addition to his two wives, he was also preceded in death by his Parents, three brothers, one grandson, John Rhine and one great granddaughter, Kayci Ann Bunselmeyer. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 14, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Murphysboro with Father Gary Gummersheimer officiating. Burial will be follow at St. Andrew's Catholic Cemetery, Murphysboro with military graveside services. Visitation will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava on Wednesday from 5 to 8 pm with the rosary being recited at 4:30 pm and on Thursday at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava from 7:30 am until 9:30 am.
