Obituary
PERCY – Thomas J. Gower, Jr., 77, of Percy passed away at 1:14 AM, Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at the Memorial Hospital in Chester.
Thomas was born on September 5, 1940, in Bonne Terre, Missouri, the son of Thomas J., Sr. and Rowena (Stegall) Gower. He married Janet H. Mathis on September 12, 1959, in Willisville, and they shared 58 years of marriage. Mr. Gower was retired from Menard Penitentiary in Chester, he was a member of the Steeleville Baptist Church, A.F.S.C.M.E. Sub Chapter 56, and R.A. at the Missionary Baptist Church, Willisville, and a Sunday school superintendent.
Thomas is survived by his wife; Janet H. Gower, of Percy, one son; Thomas J. (Ruth) Gower, III, of Percy, and one daughter; Janice (Scott) Knop, of Steeleville, 6 grandchildren; Soncy Rea Gower, Rowena Gower, Sandra Gower, Seth Brown, Justine Knop, and Kaleb Knop, and 2 great grandchildren; Matthew and Hunter Duvardo. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and many friends.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, one son; Timothy, and two sisters.
It was Jack's wishes to be cremated with a celebration of life service to be held at 2 PM, Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the Steeleville Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Scott Foshie officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 1 to 2 PM. The preferred form of remembrance is a contribution to Cystic Fibrous or to a Love Fund for the Family. Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville is entrusted with the arrangements.
