Obituary

AVA – Thomas Michael Carr, 69, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2016 in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Thomas was born in Normandy, MO on January 16, 1947, the son of the late Robert L. Carr and Gladys Brooks Carr. He was a retired Quality Control Specialist and was a veteran of the US Navy and served during the Vietnam Era from 1966-1970.
Thomas is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sharon Carr; his daughters, Leilani and husband Jonathan, and Lori, and husband Ron; four grandchildren, Courtney, Nathan, Palmer and Hollis; his sister, Beverly Beil and her husband Charlie; and his brother, Robert, and his wife, Sonia.
Thomas was preceded in death by his Parents.
He loved nature. He loved gardens. He loved organization. He loved animals. He loved practical jokes. He loved the color green. He loved being proud of good work.
Tom grew up on a farm in Jonesberg, Missouri. While living in St. Louis years later, he enlisted for the Vietnam War and was stationed in Hawaii. He served as a Navy electrician. Upon his return to St. Louis, he was a draftsmen at Young Dental and then a machinist and quality control specialist at Barry Wehmiller and Allied Health.
He died as he lived - not by anyone's rules, on his terms, and often alone – but with loved ones in the wings to be there for him if he ever needed.
Graveside service will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at the Ava Evergreen Cemetery in Ava, Illinois with Rev. Jeffrey Carr officiating. Burial will follow. Memorials may be given to Vietnam Veterans of America or AA.
