SPARTA – Steve L. Waltemate, Sr, 57, of Sparta, passed away Monday, January 10, 2022, at his home in Sparta, Illinois.

Steve was born January 16, 1964, in Eldorado, IL, to Willard and Beulah Durham Waltemate. Steve was a mechanic at various auto shops and was of the Lutheran Faith. He enjoyed car racing, watching NHRA, car shows, and racing his 1969 Dodge Demon.

Steve is survived by his children: Steve (Brynn) Waltemate, Jr, of Bristol, WS, Natasha (Earl) Partin of Pinckneyville, IL; grandchildren: Madison, Mallory and Mandy Partin, Paul, and Emery Waltemate; siblings: Willard "Curley" Waltemate of Belleville, IL, and Donna Smith of Perryville, MO.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents.

Steve's wishes were for cremation and a graveside service will follow at a later date. Memorials may be given to Steeleville E Troop 348 BSA and can be mailed to Wilson Funeral Home, P.O.
