JOHNSTON CITY – Sondra K. Hewerdine, 49, of Johnston City, Illinois, passed away at 10:25 am, Friday, May 19, 2017 at home.
Sondra was born in Pinckneyville, Illinois, on October 30, 1967, the daughter of Earl R. and Rosie C. Downs Allen. She married Helo J. Hewerdine on December 5, 1986 in Chester, Illinois. Sondra was a member of the Pentecostals of Southern Illinois in Carterville, Illinois. She was a Homemaker.
Sondra is survived by her husband, Helo J. Hewerdine of Johnston City; children, Mary (Joseph) Smiecinski of Carbondale, IL, and Tim Hewerdine of Johnston City; four brothers, Bill Schaeffer of Staunton, IL, Kevin Allen of Ava, Vance Allen of Ava, and Mark Allen of Ava; and one sister, Angela Allen of Marion, IL.
Sondra was preceded in death by her Parents and one sister, Alicia.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, May 27, 2017 at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava with Bro. Adam Mach officiating. Burial will follow at Ava Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, on Friday where friends may call from 6 pm until 8 pm, and on Saturday from 7:30 am until the hour of service. Memorials may be given to a Love Fund for the Family for Funeral Expenses.
