SPARTA – Shirley Mae Davis, 79, formerly from Sparta, passed away Friday, September 24, 2021, at Beaufont Health & Rehabilitation Center, Richmond VA.

Shirley was born February 25, 1942, in Belleville, IL, to Charles and Hazel Madeline (Slocum) Heberer. She married Charles Stokes on December 25, 1973, he preceded her in death in August 1974. Shirley married Archie Booker T. Washington Davis on March 30, 1982, in St. Clair County, MO. He preceded her in death in December 1987. Shirley was a Certified Nurse's Assistant, caregiver, and a musician. She was a member of several Baptist churches but held her longest membership and raised her family at Loyalty Missionary Baptist Church of Eden, IL. She enjoyed sewing, playing the piano, organ, accordion, playing cards and board games, crocheting, crocquet, and her flower garden.

Shirley is survived by children: Ardell M. (Sharon) Davis, Arlene Marie (Zev) Simfukwe, Arlina H.R. (Frank) McCullough, Arlen J. (Kristin) Davis; grandchildren: Isaiah Davis, Gabriella Davis, Gianna Davis, Zaynah Simfukwe, Zyannah Simfukwe, Ze'Kayley Simfukwe, Zevyanji Simfukwe II, Kaylee McCullough, Aaliyah Davis, Arlen Davis Jr., Khonner Davis, Khyleigh Davis, Aanikha Davis; sister, Katherine "Kate" Ann Garrison, and brother-in-law, Robert M. "Mike" Garrison.

Shirley is also preceded in death by her parents, and her beloved granddaughter Stephenie Davis.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, October 16, 2021, at Loyalty Missionary Baptist Church, Eden, IL, with Pastor Tom Foster officiating. Burial to follow at Caledonia Cemetery, Sparta. Friends may call 9-11 am, Saturday, at the church.
