AVA – Shawn M. Yankey, 44, of Ava, passed away Thursday, October 21, 2021, in Sparta, Illinois.

Shawn was born March 7, 1977, in Chester, IL, to Ricky Ray and Judy Lynn Bible Yankey. He married Rachel B. Carter on September 22, 2001, in Murphysboro, IL. Shawn was of the Baptist faith.

Shawn is survived by his wife, Rachel B. Yankey of Ava, sons: Jesse B Yankey and Shawn Wyatt Yankey, both of Ava; stepparents, David R. and Kelley Misselhorn of Campbell Hill, brothers: William (Amy) Yankey of Percy, Matthew (Amanda) Yankey of Carbondale, Travis (Laci) Misselhorn of Campbell Hill; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Shawn is preceded in death by his parents and maternal grandparents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, October 25, 2021, at Wilson's Funeral Home Ava, IL, Pastor Jeff Wiggs officiating. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Campbell Hill, IL. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, where friends may call from 4-7 pm, Sunday, October 24, 2021.
