WALSH– Samuel L. Stickler, 70, of Walsh, IL, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, in Mercy Hospital, Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
Samuel was born on November 22, 1954, in St. Louis, MO, the son of Samuel M. and Elaine (Davis) Stickler. Samuel married Nola Voss Vallett on February 11, 1999, in Chester, IL. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served for 13 years. Samuel retired from Gilster Mary Lee, where he worked as an over-the-road truck driver. He was a member of BBK American Legion Post #480, Steeleville, IL, and was of the Protestant faith. Samuel enjoyed fishing, listening to music, reading, photography and spending time with his family.
Samuel is survived by his wife, Nola Vallett of Walsh, IL, his son, Samuel "Marty" Stickler of Steeleville, IL, his stepsons: Matthew M. (Robin) Vallett of Schuline, IL, Casey C. (Tracy) Vallett of Red Bud, IL, Ryan R. (Kendra) Vallett of Perryville, MO, Luke L. Vallett of Perryville, MO; his seven grandchildren, his sister, Cathy (Kenneth) Jamiet of Percy, IL, and several nieces and nephews.
Samuel was preceded in death by his Parents, his daughter, Carrie Stickler, two brothers, Michael E. Stickler and Jonathan "Joe" Stickler.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 27, 2025, at 2:00 pm, at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, IL, with Alex Stickler officiating. Burial to follow at Union Cemetery, Sparta, IL. Visitation will be Friday morning where friends may call from 10:00 am until time of service. Memorials may be given to family's choice and can be mailed to Wilson's Funeral Home, P.O. Box 217, Steeleville, IL 62288.
