LENZBURG, Samuel J Smith, 72, of Lenzburg, formerly of Cutler, passed away at 10:15 AM Saturday, April 6, 2013, at his residence in Lenzburg, Illinois. Samuel was born October 1, 1940 in Cutler, Illinois the son of Albert J. and Ollie I. (Moore) Smith. Samuel was an engineer on the Southern Railroad. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam conflict. Samuel was of the Protestant faith. Samuel was a member of the VFW Post and the Moose Lodge, both in Fairview Heights, IL. He was a former member of the Masons, Scottish Rites and Shriners. He is survived by 6 children: Sam J. Smith, Jr, Tammy Luecking, Lenzberg, IL; Pamela (Jessie) Zepeda, Coulterville, IL; Jason (Ashley) Smith, Marissa, IL; Rhonda Clutter, Marissa, IL, Denise Tucker, Marissa, IL; 15Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren. Samuel is also survived by 6 brothers and sisters: John L. Smith, Sr, , Melvin Smith Sr., Kenneth L. Smith, Sr. , Robert Smith, Sr., and Patsy Briley, all of Cutler and Carolyn Lively, Ava, IL Samuel is preceded in death by his parents, 2 sons, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Cutler, Illinois. with Rev. Blu Berner officiating. Burial will follow at Cutler Cemetery. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Percy, IL, on Monday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday from 7:30am to 9am and then from 10 to 11am at the Church .Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children .
