STEELEVILLE – Samuel R. Huffman, 73, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Sparta Community Hospital, Sparta, Illinois.

Samuel was born on July 24, 1950, in Linton, IN, the son of John and Judith A. (Hull) Huffman. He married Donna R. Hartmann on December 16, 1969, in Elizabeth City, NC. Samuel was a Retired Veteran from the U.S. Navy, having proudly served for 22 years. In 1984, he became a Plank Owner, from the recommissioning of the USS Iowa. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Steeleville, IL, BBK Post 480 American Legion, Steeleville, IL, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Samuel is survived by his wife, Donna Huffman of Steeleville, IL, his children: Melissa Murphy of Steeleville, IL, Steven Huffman (Joan Shutt) of Paola, KS; his grandchildren: Madisyn Murphy, Alyssa Murphy and Cameron Oliphant.

Samuel was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Funeral services will be on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 11:00 am, at St. Marks Lutheran Church, Steeleville, IL, with Rev. Mark Harriss officiating. Burial to follow at Paradise Cemetery, Steeleville, IL. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at St. Marks Lutheran Church, where friends may call from 9:00 – 11:00 am.
