CUTLER – Samuel Church, 63, of Cutler, passed away Friday, January 6, 2023, at St. Louis University Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri.

Samuel was born in Sparta, Illinois, on February 27, 1959, the son of Floyd E. and Nelline Virginia (Smith) Church. He married Peggy Sue Williams on September 14, 1979, at Bethel Church, Rice, IL. Samuel was leadman at Gilster Mary-Lee Corporation and was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of the Pinckneyville Eagles.

Samuel is survived by wife, Peggy Sue Church of Cutler, IL, daughters: Samantha Church (Charles) Vachata of Zeigler, IL, Beverly Church of Willisville, IL; grandchildren: Thomas Keene III, Samuel Rettig , Gaige Rettig, Jacob Keene (whom he and Peggy raised); brother, Floyd Church, sisters: Betty Vuichard, Mickey Hewitt, Hazel Bardle, and Joanna Nesbit.

Samuel is preceded in death by his parents, and one son, Albert Wayne Church.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 18, 2023, at the Old Cutler Grade School, Cutler IL. Memorials may be given to a Love fund for the family.
