AVA - Sally A. Lucas, 77, of Ava, passed away at 7:45 am, Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at the Herrin Hospital in Herrin, Illinois. Sally was born in Ava, Illinois on January 7, 1937, the daughter of Aaron and Ruby Mae Gordon Pulcher. She married Paul Lucas on July 16, 1955 in Vicksburg, Mississippi. She was a retired cook from SIU. Sally is survived by her husband, Paul Lucas of Ava; her children, Paul Daniel Lucas of Murphysboro, Jeffrey Lucas of Chicago, IL, James Lucas of Carbondale, IL, Michael Lucas of Wilmington, NC, and Sallie Lucas of Chicago, IL; two granddaughters, Stephanie Lucas and Whitney Lucas; and three brothers, Aaron G. (Irene) Pulcher of East Carondelet, IL, Robert (Jean) Pulcher of Raytown, MO, and Jack (Carolyn) Pulcher of Plano, TX. Sally was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 15, 2014 at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava with Terry Kuhnert officiating. Burial will follow in Ava Evergreen Cemetery, Ava, Illinois. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, where friends may call from 6 pm to 8 pm Friday and on Saturday from 7:30 am until 11 am. Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church, Ava.
