STEELEVILLE – Ruth Jean Tiller, 85, of Steeleville, passed away at 9:37 pm, Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at home in Steeleville.

Ruth was born in Chester, Illinois, on August 15, 1935, the daughter of Ludwig and Emma Hartenberger Schroeder.  She married Charles Harold Tiller, on June 26, 1954 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Chester.  He preceded her in death on July 7, 2019.  She was a Homemaker.  Ruth was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Steeleville; B.B.K. American Legion Auxiliary Post #480, Steeleville; and Steeleville Eagles Auxiliary Aeries #3960, Steeleville.

Ruth is survived by one daughter, Jeri (Burt) Chandler of Newburn, TN; daughter-in-law, Pam Tiller of Chester; son-in-law, Greg Vallett of Steeleville; grandchildren, Jason (Celine) Vallett, Julie (Joe) Wickwire, Benjamin (Rachael) Tiller, Emma and Ellie Chandler; and great grandchildren, Daisy (Cadin Patterson) Vallett, Colin Vallett, and Jace Owen Wickwire.

Ruth was also preceded in death by her Parents; one son, Charles R. Tiller; one daughter, Sharon Vallett; four brothers; and one sister.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, September 16, 2020, at Paradise Cemetery, Steeleville, with Rev. Mark Harris officiating.  Burial will follow.  Memorials may be given to St. Mark's Lutheran School.  By executive order, face masks are required and social distancing guidelines must be followed.
