CUTLER - Ruth Ellenberg, 77, of Cutler, Illinois, passed away at 8:59 pm, Sunday, January 18, 2015 at her home. Ruth was born in Gorham, Illinois on October 10, 1937, the daughter of Stonie and Lillie M. Bower Shields. She married David L. Ellenberg on December 2, 1967 in Belleville. He preceded her in death on May 28, 1997. Ruth was a Homemaker and was retired from Chester Mental Health. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Willisville and the Murphysboro Elks Club. Ruth is survived by three daughters, Jane Rhoden of Ava, Dana Ellenberg Flagg of Cutler, and Kim Maynard of Swansea, IL; 9 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; two sisters, Elizabeth Kenon of McDonough, GA and Vivian Moll of St. Louis, MO; and one brother, R. Dean Shields of Murphysboro. Ruth was also preceded in death by her Parents; one son, Mike; and two brothers. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, January 23, 2015 at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville with Father Leo J. Hayes officiating. Burial will follow in Cutler Cemetery, Cutler, Illinois. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, where friends may call on Thursday from 5 pm until 8 pm then from 7:30 am until 10:30 am Friday. Memorials may be given to St. Jude's Children Hospital.
