CHESTER – Ruby F. Nagel, 96, formerly of Campbell Hill, IL, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Three Springs Lodge, Chester, IL.

Ruby was born on November 12, 1926, in Jones Ridge, IL, the daughter of Emil and Dina (Brelje) Dierks. She married Austin (Fritz) Carter on February 25, 1949, in Campbell Hill, IL. He preceded her in death on November 3, 1976. Ruby then married Albert Nagel on January 3, 1990, in Chester, IL. He preceded her in death on November 2, 2007. Ruby was retired from Sparta Light Metals and was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Campbell Hill, IL. She loved spending time with her family, dancing, playing Pinochle with friends, and enjoyed being outside.

Ruby is survived by her children: Terry Carter of Springfield, IL, Barry Carter of Pinckneyville, IL, Diane Hepp of Red Bud, IL, Tammy (Tom) Ernsting of Campbell Hill, IL; step children: Bruce Nagel of Cummings, GA, Marla McCall of Manassas, VA; grandchildren: Brian (Melinda) Carter, Derek (Kayla) Carter, Diane Pierson, all of Cartersville, GA, Sonya (Kurt) Ohlau of Columbia, IL; great grandchildren: Colin, Lilia, Hudson, Bri, Leilani, Fenix, Mabri, and Kruz.

Ruby was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Arvel, and Everette (Nedra), two sisters, Evelyn (Paul) Wedemeyer and Alvera (Homer) Hornbostel.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, August 24, 2023, Percy Village Cemetery, Percy, IL, with Pastor Jesse Hinds officiating. Those attending are asked to meet at the cemetery.
