JACOB - Ruby Marie Korando, 86, of Jacob passed away at 10:10 am, Monday, September 24, 2012 at the Memorial Hospital in Carbondale. Ruby was born in Campbell Hill on December 11, 1925 the daughter of William and Maria Ehlers Thies. She married Herbert Korando on July 22, 1950 in Mississippi. Ruby was a homemaker and worked at Brown Shoe Factory in Steeleville and the Jacket Factory in Murphysboro. Ruby also raised pigs and drove the tractor, which she enjoyed greatly. She was a lifetime member of the St. Ann's Catholic Church in Raddle and the St. Ann's Altar Sodality. Ruby is survived by her husband, Herbert Korando of Jacob; son, Daniel (Eula) Korando of Ava; daughters, Donna (Craig) Whistle of Ava and Loretta (Bill) Morgan of Jacob; grandchildren, Ronnie (Shannon) Korando, Carrie (Dave) Witthoft, Dawn (Eric) Rulevish, Stephanie (Dan) King, Ryan (Genie) Morgan, Justin (Kayla) Morgan, Kyle (Prudence) Whistle; 15 great grandchildren; and one brother, Ralph Thies of Jacob. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; three infant brothers; two brothers, Melvin and Norman Thies; and two sisters, Flora Ebers and Pearl Korando. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, September 27, 2012 at the St. Ann's Catholic Church in Raddle with Father Leo J. Hayes officiating. Burial will follow in Ava Evergreen Cemetery, Ava, Illinois. Visitation will be at held at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, where friends may call from 5 to 8 pm Wednesday and on Thursday from 7:30 am until 9:15 am. Memorials may be given to St. Ann's Catholic Church or Masses.
