PERCY – Ruby A. Gladson, 85, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at Three Springs Lodge, Chester, Illinois.

Ruby was born on April 6, 1938 in Pinckneyville, IL, the daughter of John L. and Mary (Byer) Quillman. She married Leonard R. Gladson on June 18, 1955, in Steeleville, IL. He preceded her in death on September 11, 1995. Ruby was a homemaker and a member of Steeleville Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She worked as a grocery store clerk and as a secretary for Steeleville Police Department.

Ruby is survived by her 3 daughters: Barbara Schaber (Neal) of Percy, IL, Bonnie Schaber of Percy, IL, Linda Stewart (Jon) of Makanda, IL, 1 son, Eric Gladson (Gina) of Steeleville, IL, 8 grandsons, 7 granddaughters, 11 great grandchildren, and in-laws, Carol Gladson and Elmer Campbell. She was fortunate to have an extended family of many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

Ruby was also preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Eunice Speir, and brother-in-law Clyde, her in-laws, Dorothy and Norman, Russell and Carol, Wayne and Norma (her very special friend and sister-in-law).

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 1:00 pm, at Steeleville Baptist Church, Steeleville, IL, with Rev. Dr. Jared Pemper officiating. Burial to follow at Paradise Cemetery, Steeleville, IL. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024, where friends may call from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, at Steelville Baptist Church, and then from 9:00 am till time of service at the church.
