SPARTA – Ruby Jewel Asselmeier, 95, of Sparta, passed away at 6:45 am, on Monday, October 10, 2022, at home.

Ruby was born in Columbia, Illinois, on May 15, 1927, the daughter of Louis and Cora Krennel Ritter.  She married Earl H. Asselmeier, on September 8, 1951, at Columbia, Illinois, he preceded her in death on October 7, 2007.  Ruby was the retired Co-Owner of Sparta Feed.  She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Sparta.  Ruby was in charge of St. John's Food Pantry, sang in the St. John's Choir, and helped with Funeral Meals.

Ruby is survived by her children, Leisa Asselmeier of Sparta, Eric (Shelby) Asselmeier of Sparta, and Craig (Kim) Asselmeier of Perryville, MO; grandchildren, Erica, Heidi, Gretchen, Max, Victor, Isabella, Luke, Bridgette, Sophia, Nicholus; and brother, Dale Ritter of Columbia, IL.

Ruby was also preceded in death by her Parents; 3 brothers, Harold, Wayne, and Clements; and 3 sisters, Bernell, Bernice, and Marlin.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sparta, with Rev. Carl Miller officiating.  Burial will follow at Caledonia Cemetery, Sparta. Friends may call from 9 am until 11 am at the church.  Memorials may be given to St. John's Lutheran Church Food Pantry or a Food Pantry of their choice.
