Obituary

CAMPBELL HILL – Roy Peter Reiman, 77, of Campbell Hill, passed away on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis, MO.

Pete was born on May 25, 1938 in Murphysboro, IL, the son of the late Roy and Verneda King Reiman. He graduated from Ava Grade School and Trico High School, where he was active in baseball and basketball. On February 12, 1955, he married, Patricia Murphy at Peace Lutheran Church in Steeleville and they shared over 60 years of marriage. Through the years, they traveled, visiting all 50 states, Canada, Mexico and several European countries. In recent years, they enjoyed trips and cruises with old classmates and close friends.

Pete led an interesting and successful life and tried to help anyone he could along the way. He touched many lives and will be missed greatly. He was a partner in several property and business ventures. Pete served on the board of directors of the Community First Bank of the Heartland in Mount Vernon. He was a lifelong Democrat, serving many years as a Precinct committeeman and past Jackson County Democrat Chairman. He was an avid horse lover and served many years on the Board of the Illinois Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Association. Pete had horses run in some of the biggest races in the Country, including the Breeder's Cup. In his younger years, he loved horseback riding, raising bird dogs and competing in field trials, where he made many friends. Pete had a productive life with a lot of friends and fun along the way.

Pete is survived by his wife, Patricia Reiman; three daughters, Cindy (Rick) Svanda, Stacy Reiman-Miller, and Lisa Reiman; one son, Scott (Sandy) Reiman; grandchildren, Jaime (Casey) Lodge, Nathan Svanda, John Reiman, Kellie Flores, Lindsay (Andrew) Oetjen, Rachel (Levi) Marshall and Patrick Ranta; step granddaughter, Shannon (Chris) Santangelo; great grandchildren, Jacob and Wilson Lodge, Kara and Reed Flores, Tyne and Lyla Oetjen, Kyler Reiman, Calvin Marshall, and Jackson and Nya Santangelo; whom he loved dearly; and special cousins, Lawrence King, Mickey Korando and Joyce Eisenhauer.

Pete was preceded in death by his Parents; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Pat and Elsie Murphy; granddaughter, Emily Reiman; one infant sister, Barbara; an infant son; and an infant grandson.

Funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm, Saturday, November 21, 2015 at the St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Campbell Hill with Rev. Laura Kamprath officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Calvary Cemetery in Campbell Hill. Visitation will be at St. Luke's Lutheran Church on Saturday from Noon until 4:00 pm. Memorials may be given to Trico Athletic Boosters, the Ava Food Pantry or St. John's Lutheran Church at Post Oak.
