Obituary

MURPHYSBORO – Roy R. Compton, Jr., 45, of Murphysboro passed away at 9:57 PM, Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Roy was born on October 2, 1974, in Murphysboro, the son of Roy R. Compton, Sr., and Sharon (Ellis) Compton. Roy was a carpenter and a member of the Julibee Tabernacle Church, DeSoto, and the Carpenter Union.

Roy was a devoted son, brother, uncle, father, grandfather and friend to all. He was hardheaded, but soft hearted, always putting others before himself. He was a forgiver, always choosing to believe in the good of those he loved. He had a contagious laugh and an enthusiastic personality that he will always be remembered for. He was a passionate and talented carpenter whose skill was idolized by many. The love, laughter, and happiness he gave us will be so very missed, but never forgotten. His memory will forever live in our hearts.

Roy is survived by his children; Nicole (Micah) Thomas, of Carterville, Brent Compton, of Murphysboro, grandchildren; Izabella Ortiz, Tegan Thomas, parents; Roy, Sr., and Sharon Compton, of Ava, brothers; Roger (Connie) Compton, of Murphysboro, David Compton, of Murphysboro, Allen Compton, of St. Louis, Missouri, and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Compton was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic there will be a private graveside service at the Ava Evergreen Cemetery. Memorials may be made to a Love Fund for the Family, and mailed to Wilson's Funeral Home, P.O. Box 277, Ava, Illinois 62907.
