MURPHYSBORO, Roy Edward Beckman, 84, of Murphsyboro, passed away at 11:05 A.M. Monday, May 31, 2010, at Canterbury Manor Nursing Center in Waterloo, IL. Roy was born April 19, 1926 in Campbell Hill, Illinois the son of Edward C. Beckman and Clara (Hohlt) Beckman. Roy married Esther Meyerhoff on May 5, 1951 in Wine Hill, IL. He was an army veteran of WWII. Roy was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, West Point Hill, IL; the Jackson County Farm Bureau; Paul Stout American Legion Post #127, Murphysboro, IL; and the VFW Post #7190, Murphsyboro. Roy is survived by his wife, Esther Beckman of Murphysboro; three daughters, Linda Sue (Curt) Wittbracht of Waterloo, IL, Beverly Ann (David) Beckman-Banks of Athens, IL, and Nancy Ellen (Jim) Vaughn of Tuscon, AZ; seven grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and one sister, Lucille Holstein of Sun City, AZ. Roy was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 4, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in West Point. Rev. Tim B. Zechiel will be officiating. Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, West Point. Visitation will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville on Thursday from 5 to 8 pm and on Friday from 7:30 am until 9 am and on Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, West Point from 10 am until 11 am. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery Fund or Immanuel Lutheran Church Maintenance Fund.
